I was asked to index this book.
Having high hopes that some of my family would be found in the book, I started the project. No such luck. But maybe it will be helpful for other family researchers.

The saga of being a family researcher. Or as other family members say: a full time non-paying job.

Reflections of the Past an index by PERSI; found on Findmypast
Frederick County Genealogy Society (Frecogs) Newsletter / Frederick County Reflections Of The Past
I just did a look. Findmypast lists the articles, but not the text unless you have a subscription.
Thought you'd like to know.

American Settlements and Migrations: A Primer for Genealogists and Family Historians by Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruck
A lot of the good things to say about this book revolve around how well the author, Lloyd Bockstruck, knew the area and its history. Known areas contain references for other works to supplement a reader's search. Other states have few notations and may just complement what the reader already knew.
Graphically and grammatically, there are a lot of problems with odd words, incomplete sentences and sentence justification.
As far as finding what you're looking for, some facts are repeated in multiple states sometimes showing up within a page. It would have been thoughtful to include an index despite the amount of space that it would have involved. The extra sources listed could be included as footnotes which would also make reading the text less complicated.

Thornton library page correction for Surname files in vertical file cabinets
I looked at the entry this morning and only the first page of the document was included.
It has been fixed and the URL is:
