For those looking for SSDI information [Social Security Death Information] try http://go.fold3.com/ssdi/. This service used to be on Rootsweb but was shoved off for 'security' reasons. Other free sites that offer the database include familysearch.org.

My current 'can't put it down' reading is The Courthouses of Early Virginia. Starting with international research, Carl R Lounsbury, discusses the relationship of pre-1600 court information with the development of the court system in colonial Virginia. History, architecture, vignettes of cases and court protocol is included with diagrams over time of blueprints of expansions and photographs starting from the Civil War. For my personal interest: the history of court systems over time of each individual county!

National Institute on Genealogical Research

Currently: Back from Trip the end of October overseas. We got on a boat in Rome heading for Monte Carlo; then 3 ports in Spain, through the straits of Gibraltar up the coast of Portugal. After visiting Lisbon, we headed for the Portugusese island of Madiera, and the city of Funchal. Then it was 7 days across the Atlantic and we arrived at Ft Lauderdale. I like boats! Spent serious time working on NC databases and cross stitch while watching the water.

Current projects

In North Carolina, I am working on the third book in a series for estates in Granville County, based on the manuscripts of Zae Hargett Gwynn.
The next series is also a mimeograph a large manuscript for land records from the beginning of Granville County, North Carolina. The print copy is over 500 pages.

In Frederick County, MD I am working on transcribing the estate index books at the courthouse. This is a Paw Prints, Inc project which is going very slowly.

Also in the central Maryland area, I am working on the descendants of John George Lantz who lived near New Windsor in present day Carroll County. I promised to have this book done two years ago and I fall further behind as time goes by.
So, it's been five years and it is taking longer than I thought it would.

In the general course of time I research all Davis family in the greater Granville County, NC area; Long family members in the central Maryland area, especially descendents of Johan Martin Lang/Long, and Boger and Mothershead family members and allied descendant families anywhere in the United States

My other son, Brian William. His middle name is for many of his relatives. A graduate of IIT in Chicago, he works as an aerospace engineer in Utah.

This is my oldest son, Neale. He lives in a group home in Frederick, MD. His first name is the last name of one of his 2ggrmothers. He has Angelman's Syndrome.
